On Friday, October 28th, the Mill City String Quartet visited our elementary music room. They are a group of professional musicians based out of Minneapolis. Minnesota Public Radio graciously sponsered the group and it was a free performance for any public school.
The string quartet consisted of 2 violins, a viola and a cello. The group performed a 45 minute show for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. They told the kids about their instruments and explored how music makes us feel. At the end, our kids asked some very insightful questions. Through these questions we learned how musicians record music for movies, that the cello that was played was made in 1865 and a lot of other interesting facts.
