Mrs. Fjerstad graduated from Fillmore Central High School in Harmony, MN in 1995. From there she attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse for a year and a half and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to finish her education. During college she participated in the UW-LaCrosse Jazz Choir, UW-LaCrosse Concert Choir, UWRF Concert Choir, UWRF Chamber Singers, and the National Lutheran Choir. She graduated from UW-River Falls in the spring of 2000 with a degree in K-12 General and Choral Music Education and moved to Hayfield, MN to begin her teaching career. In the spring of 2007, she graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning. For the past 15 years, Mrs. Fjerstad has taught classroom music in Hayfield for grades K-6, was the 7/8 Girls’ Choral Director for one year, coached middle school basketball for 2 years, and is the director of Hayfield Elementary’s “Voices of Vikings” choir. In her spare time, Mrs. Fjerstad enjoys scrapbooking, sewing, gardening, playing piano and singing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
